Low-Rider On Loan!.

Good Morning!

Today, it is with great excitement that thanks to the kindness and co-operation of Richard Huxham/4738 Group, we can announce the long term loan of unique low height Volvo Ailsa, TRR814R, which will be heading to Yorkshire in the coming weeks to participate in our Black Prince 50th celebrations!.

The 42 year old Volvo, which was new to Derby Corporation Transport in February 1977, registered RTO1R, carries a fantastic version of the Black Prince livery. In the February of 1989, the bus was re-registered as TRR814R, so it does in fact celebrate it's 30th year of carrying this new identity in 2019!.

A more detailed history of the low-height can be found over in the preservation pages of the website, link here > http://www.blackprincebuses.co.uk/814

814 is seen here at Showbus Donington 2016, in the company of the rest of the 4738 group collection and the fleet of preserved Black Prince Mercedes-Benz buses.

Of the long term loan, 814 owner, Richard Huxham said "The bus hasn't seen much use recently so It'll be particularly good to use it in Leeds"

Keith Billingsley of the 4738 group, owners of V1, 4527 and of course 4738 and caretakers of 814 commented "I'm really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the low height on some Black Prince routes!"

Agreed, we are very much looking forward to taking delivery of the Ailsa very soon!.

Stand-by for details of where to catch a ride on TRR814R over the coming months.
